The FGDP recently undertook a survey of its members across the UK. Part of the survey focused on topics that members would be interested in hearing more about. One of the most popular areas was the restoration of the root filled tooth. In response to this demand, FGDP Yorkshire has organised an evening lecture with two specialists to discuss the treatment options available and evidence base for restoration of the root filled tooth.
We are delighted that two specialists from the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield, Mr Abdulraham Elmougy, a consultant in Restorative Dentistry and Mr Johnathan Hoare, a specialist Endodontist have agreed to speak to our members about this crucial area of restorative dentistry.
Mr Abdulrahman Elmougy [BDS, MFDS RCS Ed, MSc, FDS RCS Ed.]
Mr Elmougy qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2003. He completed vocational training at Churchfield dental centre in Barnsley and continued to work there for a further 10 years until 2014. During this time the practice went from mixed NHS/Private to completely private in 2006. In 2008 he completed an 18 month implant one to one course and started teaching undergrads for one day a week until 2014.
2014-2019 carried out an academic clinical fellowship and restorative training and a part time masters in clinical research. In 2019 he became a consultant in restorative dentistry. He is keen on most aspects of restorative dentistry. He is one of the few practitioners that has made the transition from practice life to specialist restorative dentist so he has seen it from the coal face and the ivory tower.
Mr Johnathon Hoare
Mr Hoare, graduated from Guy’s Hospital, University of London in 1995, after which he entered general practice. This was followed by hospital surgical posts in Hereford, Worcester and Dudley. In 2000, he added to his qualifications by gaining the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He is a specialist endodontist and works at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and also accepts private referrals at One80 dental in Sheffield.
